On August 27, the death toll from a series of explosions at an ammunition depot in a military unit in Kazakhstan increased to 12.

Nine deaths were previously reported.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, today the bodies of three more Emergency Situations Ministry employees who died during the liquidation of the consequences of the emergency were found at the scene of the incident.

The identities of the dead are currently being established.

What is known about the emergency

Let us remind you that the day before, a fire occurred at an ammunition depot in a military unit in the Bayzak district of the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan, followed by a series of explosions.

In total, more than ten explosions were recorded. Nearby villages were evacuated.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a total of 98 people were injured, half of them were rescuers involved in eliminating the consequences of the emergency.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident, with arson and sabotage among the versions being considered.

The Ministry of Defense said that the fire could have been caused by the combustion of TNT stored in the warehouse.

Defense Minister Nurlan Yermekbayev is ready to resign.
