0views

Germany and France proposed holding an EU summit with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The proposal was rejected by the leaders of the remaining countries in the European Union.

According to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, after the first day of the EU summit, the clause on negotiations with Putin was not included in the final communique – Bloomberg.

Earlier, diplomats from the European Union said that some Eastern European states were so categorically opposed to the proposal from Berlin and Paris that they were ready to veto it.

According to the publication, representatives of a number of states said that they did not like the very idea of meeting with Putin.

Some European politicians said they did not like the fact that the proposal for a summit with the Russian leader was announced at the very last moment.

Let us note that negotiations with Vladimir Putin have not been held since 2014, after Russia, according to European politicians, annexed Crimea.
