The Polish Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian ambassador after Zelensky’s criticism of Warsaw

On September 20, the Ukrainian Ambassador Vasily Zvarych was urgently summoned to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The reason for the call was statements by President Vladimir Zelensky about the blockade of Ukrainian grain supplies to the European Union.

What they told the Ukrainian ambassador at the Polish Foreign Ministry

Earlier, Zelensky at the General Assembly of the United Nations accused EU countries restricting grain imports from Ukraine of turning this issue into a thriller and thereby helping Russia.

According to the Polish Foreign Ministry, Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski conveyed to Zvarych Warsaw’s strong protest against the wording voiced by the Ukrainian president at the UN General Assembly.

Jablonski noted that filing complaints in international courts and putting pressure on Warsaw in multilateral forums are not appropriate methods for resolving disputes between Ukraine and Poland.

According to the deputy minister, such actions will not have an effect, since the Polish government, protecting the interests of Polish farmers, acts in accordance with national legislation, EU laws and international law.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland expressed hope that the policies and public statements of the Ukrainian authorities will reflect the real nature of relations between the two countries, taking into account the unprecedented assistance provided to Ukraine and its people by Poland and its people.

On September 15, the European Commission did not extend the embargo on grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine, after which Slovakia, Hungary and Poland unilaterally banned the import of Ukrainian grain.

Ukraine filed a complaint with the WTO. Commenting on Kyiv’s reaction, Polish President Andrzej Duda called on Kyiv to remember that supplies of weapons and humanitarian aid to Ukraine go through Poland.
