The commander of the Eurocorps, Polish General Jaroslaw Gromadzinski, was fired.
The high-ranking officer was, among other things, responsible for the training of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. The military counterintelligence service is conducting an investigation against him.

Reason for checking
The department cites the reason for the investigation as “receiving new information about the officer.”
In this regard, a decision was made to dismiss General Gromadzinski from his position as commander of the Eurocorps and his immediate return to his homeland, the Ministry of Defense added.
The ministry has so far chosen not to make the details of the inspection public.
To ensure the continuity of the functioning of the Eurocorps command, another officer will be urgently appointed to the position of its commander, the statement says.
General Polko’s version
The ex-commander of the Polish special forces Grom, General Roman Polko, suggested that military counterintelligence really has serious claims against Gromadzinski.
He called the dismissal of someone for whom “we previously vouched” for a scandal and a compromise, a blow to the prestige of Poland.
I think the charges, unfortunately, must be serious. Otherwise, this probably would not have happened,” the military man shared his opinion on the radio station RMF FM.
According to Polko, before taking the position of head of the Eurocorps, Gromadzinski had to obtain a personal security certificate.
This is really a very thorough check in virtually every area – vulnerability to corruption, international connections, and personal contacts,” he explained.
And he suggested that an error might have been made in the process of assigning the said certificate, or that counterintelligence had only now received new information about Gromadzinski.
What the fired person says
And the latter stated that he had nothing to reproach himself with and that during all 34 years of military service he put the interests of the Motherland first, often even at the expense of his own family.
While serving in staff and command positions, at home and abroad, as well as in cooperation with NATO allies, I have always represented the uniform of the Polish soldier with dignity,” said the dismissed general.
And he summed up his comment with a statement that he believed that the outcome of the military counterintelligence check would be positive for him.
Who is Gromadzinski
It is known that before commanding the Eurocorps, Gromadzinski served as advisor-coordinator to the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.
Before that, he was the first commander of the 18th mechanized division.
And in the last few months, he also served in an international aid group for Ukraine in Wiesbaden, Germany.
There, together with the American military, he was responsible for training soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
