The President of Finland signed laws on the country’s accession to NATO

On March 23, Finnish President Sauli Niinist signed laws on the country’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.

The signing ceremony took place at the presidential palace in Helsinki.

Thus, Finland has completed all internal arrangements necessary for NATO membership.

What else is needed for Finland to join NATO?

At the moment, Finland’s application for NATO membership has been approved by all countries of the alliance, except Turkey and Hungary.

On March 17, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that it had been decided to begin the process of ratifying Finland’s accession to NATO and that a vote in the Turkish parliament on this issue could take place before the national elections scheduled for May 14.

The other day it became known that the Hungarian parliament intends to approve Finland’s accession to NATO on March 27.
