The President of Georgia intends to veto the law on foreign agents

On April 17, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili promised to veto the draft law on foreign agents if it is passed by parliament in three readings.

The head of Georgia made this statement in an interview with the BBC.

Today the Georgian parliament adopted this law in the first reading. 83 parliamentarians spoke in favor of the document, 0 were against.

Opposition deputies did not vote and left the hall. The second reading is scheduled for May 17.

Commenting on the parliament’s decision in an interview, the President of Georgia promised to veto the document.

As I do with regard to other laws that contradict the strategy and recommendations of the European Union, – noted the head of the Georgian state.

According to her, the parliamentary majority will be able to overcome her veto, but it must be used so that the voice of the people is heard.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden did not want to testify in Congress about his family’s transactions.
