The President of Hungary called on Zelensky to start peace negotiations

Hungarian President Katalin Nowak called on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to start peace negotiations.

The head of the Hungarian state announced this in an interview with Index.

How Novak called on Zelensky to negotiate

The Hungarian President noted that the Ukrainian conflict has been going on for a year and a half and that she does not see a military solution that would lead to long-term peace.

Therefore, according to Novak, it is necessary to sit down at the negotiating table.

I expressed this strong opinion to the President of Ukraine both publicly and privately, – said the head of the Hungarian state.

She noted that at a recent meeting with Zelensky in Kyiv, she announced Budapest’s intention to join negotiations on a peace formula.

Let us recall that last week Novak said that the time would soon come to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, although there are no conditions for announcing a specific peace plan yet.

Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that it is ready for negotiations, noting that the Ukrainian authorities have banned them at the legislative level.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov stated that a plan that does not take into account new territorial realities cannot be peaceful.

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that Zelensky’s peace formula is a set of ultimatums divorced from reality and has nothing to do with peace.

In Kyiv they say that peace can only be achieved on Ukraine’s terms and after its return to the 1991 borders.

Bloomberg reported last week that US President Joseph Biden could push Ukraine toward negotiations during the 2024 election campaign.
