The Polish authorities are discussing with the United States the possibility of the country joining the North Atlantic Alliance Nuclear Sharing program, which provides for the joint use of American nuclear weapons.

This was announced on October 5 by Polish President Andrzej Duda.

What Duda said

In an interview with Gazeta Polska, Duda called Poland’s lack of nuclear weapons a problem, noting that there are no signs that the country will receive them any time soon.

However, according to the President of Poland, there is always the potential opportunity to join the Nuclear Sharing program; this issue has been discussed with the United States.

The topic is open – noted the head of the Polish state.

The day before, the leader of the country’s ruling Law and Justice party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, spoke out in support of Poland joining the Nuclear Sharing program.

Nuclear Sharing is a NATO program for the deployment and storage of the US nuclear arsenal in Europe, providing that non-nuclear states can deploy US nuclear weapons on their territory and take part in planning and exercises.
