This lab will offer a comprehensive introduction to Python programming, designed specifically for astronomy enthusiasts and budding astronomers. Over the course of eight lessons, participants will learn the fundamental concepts of programming applied to astronomical research. Essential programming constructs will be quickly explored, and then move on to scientific informatics, with an introduction to NumPy for numerical operations and Matplotlib for data visualization, fundamental skills not only for any aspiring astronomer, but also highly sought after in the world of work in general, particularly for data science and artificial intelligence tasks.

Through hands-on exercises, participants will apply their new Python skills to real. Official databases of stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis models produced by international research groups will be analyzed, and you will learn to draw solid scientific conclusions through their comparison with observational data. The course will conclude with an exclusive seminar focused on using Python to conduct some recent cutting-edge astronomical research projects.
