The rapporteur wants to vote on the Amnesty PL next week, but the Chamber election could change the date

42views

Rapporteur Rodrigo Valadares (União-SE) wants to vote, next Tuesday (15), on the bill that provides amnesty for those involved in politically or electorally motivated acts since January 8 last year.

Negotiations surrounding the internal election for the presidency of the Chamber, however, may mix up the definition of the date.

This is because, behind the scenes, both opposition parliamentarians and those from the government’s allied base have been using the project in discussions regarding possible support for candidates to succeed Arthur Lira (PP-AL) as president of the House from February next year.

Government officials in the CCJ know that, currently, they do not have enough votes in the commission to block the project. Therefore, a PT member said with reservations to the report that the intention is to speak to allied parties within the collegiate and “remind them of the internal election”. The focus should be on members of the MDB and União Brasil, for example.

“Contaminated”

The president of the CCJ, Caroline de Toni (PL-SC), assesses to colleagues that the project continues to be “contaminated” by internal elections on both sides.

Therefore, it also intends to talk to party leaders and members of the collegiate to find out if there is the strength and will to approve the text next week. Otherwise, it should not guide the project.

This Tuesday (8), a review request was granted – more time to analyze the topic – requested by government deputies, who are against the proposal. The request postponed the eventual vote, but it was already expected — the appeal is provided for in the rules. In principle, starting next Tuesday, the project will be ready for voting again.

Another factor that could also hinder the analysis is the absence of all federal deputies in Brasília, due to the municipal elections. The second round of the election is scheduled for October 27th.
