Members of the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for the process of integrating Ukraine into NATO to begin.

According to the document, it is proposed to organize this after the Ukrainian-Russian conflict ends.

The resolution was adopted on Thursday, June 15, 2023. 425 deputies voted for it, 42 abstained, 38 expressed their “against”.

As MIA Rossiya Segodnya reports, the document draws attention to the fact that the European Parliament expects the start of the process of including Ukraine in NATO “after the end of the war.”

In addition, the deputies expressed the hope that the integration will be completed “as soon as possible.”

Separately, the need is pointed out for the European Union and its NATO allies to work in close cooperation with Ukraine before Kyiv fully joins the North Atlantic Alliance.

This, the document explains, is necessary in order for a temporary mechanism for security guarantees to be developed.

And once such a mechanism is developed, then, according to European deputies, it will need to be implemented as soon as possible after the end of the conflict.

The EP is convinced that Ukraine’s accession to NATO and its integration with the EU will strengthen not only regional but also international security, as well as ties between Kiev and the Alliance.
