The Rothschilds filed a lawsuit with the ECHR against the Czech Republic

14views

The descendants of the influential billionaire Alphonse Rothschild filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights against the Czech Republic.

The relatives of a long-dead banker have started another fight for their lost inheritance. We are talking about the Šilgeržovice family estate, which was confiscated during the Second World War.

This was reported by the republican publication HlidaciPes.

The Rothschilds intend to sue the Czech authorities for a plot of land, and at the same time the complex of buildings in Shilgeržovice (an 18th-century castle), located near the town of Glucín.

The property had to be parted with for the first time in 1939. Then the property was confiscated by the Nazis who came to power, who discovered Alphonse’s Jewish roots.

But after the end of the war, no one was in a hurry to return the estate to the billionaire’s descendants. The property turned out to be the property of what was then Czechoslovakia.

It was necessary to say goodbye not only to the estate, but also to the hope of its return in 1948, after power in the country passed into the hands of the communists.

The relatives decided to start a new fight after the national law on restitutions was adopted in the Czech Republic in 1989.

Considering that the main owner of Shilgeržovice is the state, Rothschild’s great-grandson sued the Czech authorities.

But even if the court sides with the influential family, the banker’s relatives promise that the interests of private owners will not be harmed.
