The Russian Foreign Ministry published a statement addressing the issue of the Quran burning incident in Sweden.

The Russian department noted that if the act of burning the Koran is not followed by punishment, this could lead to catastrophic consequences.

A statement on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry notes that the international community must resist such illegal actions.

Special Representative of the Foreign Ministry in the field of observance of the rights to freedom of religion Gennady Askaldovich also expressed his opinion on this incident.

He believes that such acts of wrongdoing cannot be left unpunished.

The Russian Foreign Ministry says that the world community must resist violations of the rights of believers.

On June 28, the Swedish police allowed a protest action with the burning of the Koran – it was organized for the Eid al-Adha holiday.

The country’s prime minister noted that the police decision was legal, but inappropriate.
