The situation with COVID-19 is improving in Europe: the WHO announced encouraging figures

0views

Over the past month, the incidence of coronavirus in European countries has decreased by 60 percent.

This was reported by news agencies citing a statement by Hans Kluge, a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO).

In mid-April, Europe recorded 1.7 million infections in a week. In May, the figure dropped to 685 thousand.

Thus, the incidence of COVID-19 on the continent has decreased by almost 2.5 times.

However, in some European countries the epidemiological situation is not improving. Therefore, it is too early to talk about victory over the pandemic.

What could make the situation worse?

The WHO noted that the decline in the incidence of COVID-19 may stop.

Moreover, a sharp deterioration in the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection is not excluded.

This could happen if European countries abandon restrictive measures.

The summer period is especially dangerous, usually accompanied by increased mobility of people.

The organization also drew attention to the low rate of vaccination. So far, only 11 percent of Europeans have received full protection from COVID-19.
