The highest executive body of Slovenia has decided to recognize the State of Palestine.

The Slovenian Foreign Ministry reported this.

It is emphasized that the decision to recognize the Middle Eastern state was made by the government of the southern European country yesterday, May 30.

However, official recognition of Palestine by Slovenia has not yet taken place. The fact is that the issue should also be considered by parliamentarians.

It is noted that now the decision must be approved by the state assembly of the country, – reports MIA “”.

EU countries that recognized Palestine

Until 2014, there were 8 countries in the European Union that recognized the State of Palestine. We are talking about Bulgaria, Hungary, Cyprus, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Ten years ago, Palestine was recognized by another EU member country, Sweden.

Recently, three more representatives of the European Union announced their decision to recognize the Middle Eastern state.

Previously these countries: Ireland, Spain, Norway.
