What Sunak’s spokeswoman said about peace in Ukraine

Answering a question from journalists about Britain’s assessment of the peace initiative of the leaders of African states, the representative of the British Prime Minister announced London’s support for all international efforts aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine.

We continue to support Ukraine in their quest for peace, and we support all international efforts aimed at achieving this, – she said.

Let us recall that a delegation of seven African states, which included the presidents of the Republic of South Africa, Senegal, Zambia and the Comoros, the head of the government of Egypt and representatives of Uganda and the Republic of Congo, visited Ukraine on June 16 and held negotiations with its President Vladimir Zelensky.

On June 17, the delegation met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, on behalf of the delegation, outlined a ten-principles plan to lay the foundation for the peace process in Ukraine.

It was agreed that the African mission would continue consultations with Moscow at the Russia-Africa summit to be held in St. Petersburg in July. The format and schedule of the mission’s consultations with Kyiv have not yet been disclosed.
