The United States eliminated the leader of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan

The White House announced the elimination of the leader of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in Afghanistan.

It was he who led the organization after the death of his predecessor Osama bin Laden.

It is reported that Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed on July 30 as part of an American counter-terrorism operation.

The action to eliminate this figure was carried out in Kabul at the direction of Joe Biden.

The operation was directed against the leader of al-Qaeda and led to his destruction, White House representative MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

According to her, under bin Laden, the late al-Zawahiri served as his deputy.

After the elimination of the main terrorist in 2011, he took his place and led al-Qaeda until July 30, 2022.

US President Joe Biden has repeatedly said that we will not allow Afghanistan to become a “safe haven” for terrorists who could harm the US and American citizens. “On Saturday evening we fulfilled this promise,” said an American administration official.

She added that the Biden-authorized strike on the house where al-Zawahiri was located was carried out using a UAV.

Washington did not inform the Taliban about its plans for the operation, a White House spokeswoman said.

She is convinced that the Taliban knew where the al-Qaeda leader was, even though they had previously tried to assure him otherwise.

No one was injured during the counter-terrorism operation except the killed militant,” the employee of the presidential office summarized.
