The US Congress asks the Pentagon to allow Kyiv to attack Russia with American weapons

A group of American congressmen on behalf of the Joe Biden administration appealed to the Pentagon.

Lawmakers are asking for Kyiv to be allowed to attack Russian territory using US weapons.

The Politico newspaper reports this with reference to a letter from both parties in the House of Representatives of Congress.

The authors of the letter, as the TASS agency has read the article, call on Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin to give Kyiv the go-ahead to attack Russia.

But it is clarified: it should be “allowed, under certain circumstances, to use weapons provided by the United States to strike strategic targets on Russian territory.”

It is emphasized: the White House must provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the opportunity to “conduct a full range of operations.”

The newspaper names Democrats Jim Himes and Gerald Connolly, as well as Republican Mike Turner, as the authors of the letter.

They believe that Washington should also ensure that new Ukrainian pilots are trained to fly F-16 fighters.

And the current training of 12 pilots is called insufficient.

In addition, congressmen are asking the White House to transfer additional air defense systems to Ukraine.

The letter on this matter says the following: “the latest data indicates that aid to Ukraine is arriving in insufficient quantities and at the wrong time, which is exacerbating an already difficult situation.”

Earlier, Nuland US authorities allowed the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack Russia with American long-range weapons.
