Ukraine received the first batch of ammunition from the United States as part of the military assistance program.
The relevant information was published by the US Embassy in Kyiv on its Twitter account. We are talking about the supply of lethal weapons and ammunition with a total weight of more than 90 thousand kilograms.
The first reports that the United States had secretly agreed on funding for military assistance to Ukraine appeared on January 11 on CNN.
Journalists, citing four sources in the US administration, reported that we were talking about 200 million US dollars, but the details were not disclosed.
Soon information appeared that Washington would supply Kyiv with medical equipment, radar surveillance equipment, small arms and ammunition.
This assistance, along with more than $2.7 billion in assistance provided to Ukraine since 2014, demonstrates the United States’ strong commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s defenses against the backdrop of growing Russian aggression, the department said.
Last year alone, the United States provided over $650 million in aid to the Ukrainian military.
Since 2014, military aid to Ukraine has been provided in the amount of $2.7 billion.
