Former host of the American Fox News channel Tucker Carlson said that the US authorities denied him the opportunity to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The TV presenter made this statement in an interview with the Swiss publication Die Weltwoche, reports.

How US authorities banned Carlson from interviewing Putin

Carlson noted that the US leadership has for decades made extremely aggressive attempts to gain control of all media, and that most American journalists are afraid to say anything that might displease the authorities.

The TV presenter cited the conflict in Ukraine as an example, noting that this is a potentially nuclear conflict between superpowers.

I tried to interview Vladimir Putin, but the US government stopped me– told the journalist Die Weltwoche.

He did not specify the details, but noted that the American media did not react to this in any way, not a single journalist was indignant.

At the end of August, RT channel editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan reported that Carlson had asked for an interview with Putin.

In April, Fox News removed Carlson, the highest-rated American journalist, from the airwaves, leaving him on staff until 2025.

The journalist regularly criticized US President Joseph Biden, in particular, for exorbitant spending on aid to Ukraine, and called for an investigation into Biden’s son Hunter.
