The US House of Representatives approved a bill to help Israel, but not Ukraine

21views

The US House of Representatives approved the Republican-initiated draft law on aid to Israel.

The document provides for the allocation of $14.3 billion to this country. However, it does not say about assistance to Ukraine.

According to TASS, 226 members of the House of Representatives voted for this project, 196 were against.

Now that the document has been approved by the lower house, it will be sent for consideration to the Senate of the US Congress.

By the way, earlier the leader of the Democrats in the Senate (this party controls the upper house) Chuck Schumer said that the Senate would not accept the “deeply flawed proposal” of the Republicans.

And the White House said President Joe Biden would veto the bill if both houses of Congress support it.

Let us add that the Republicans, in their proposed draft law, included the possibility of supporting Israel by reducing funding for the US Internal Revenue Service (Tax Service).

As for Ukraine, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson (Republican) announced his desire to tie further assistance (possible) to this country to the issue of funding security of the border with Mexico.

In other words, Republicans want aid to Israel to be provided separately, and aid to Ukraine to be considered in one package with the allocation of funds to strengthen the defense of the southern borders of the United States.
