The US may give Kyiv long-range missiles

0views

The United States plans to provide Ukraine with another package of military assistance. It is valued at $2.2 billion.

According to available information, this time Washington will include long-range missiles in its support.

In particular, TASS reported this with reference to the Reuters agency, which in turn refers to two officials familiar with the situation.

According to them, the States can provide Kyiv with ground-launched small-diameter GLSDB projectiles with a range of about 150 kilometers.

At the same time, Washington refused Kyiv’s request to supply ATACMS missiles capable of covering a distance of up to 300 kilometers.

Reuters notes that American officials may announce a new aid package to Ukraine this week.

From the details it is known that weapons worth $400 million will be transferred to Kyiv directly from the Pentagon’s reserves.

The rest of the volume ($1.725 billion) will be allocated as part of the initiative to promote the security of Ukraine.

The initiative implies the conclusion of relevant contracts by the US Department of Defense with manufacturers, and not the transfer of weapons available to the United States to Kyiv.

It is in this way – through the implementation of the initiative – that Washington intends to purchase the above-mentioned GLSDB missiles for Ukraine.

In addition to these missiles, the new aid package includes other munitions, including support equipment for the Patriot missile defense systems.

Also, according to the agency, Javelin anti-tank systems, armored vehicles with enhanced mine protection MRAP and GMLRS guided missiles will be transferred to Kyiv.
