The US plans to allocate $61 billion to Ukraine and transfer ATACMS missiles

60views

American congressmen have prepared a draft law on assistance to Ukraine.

The document provides for the allocation of nearly $61 billion to this country from the US budget and the transfer of ATACMS missiles.

The total amount of assistance is $60.84 billion. Of this amount, 23.2 billion is expected to be used to replenish military equipment and defense services transferred to Kyiv.

There is one thing

Another 13.8 billion, as reported by Rossiya Segodnya, will be spent on purchasing weapons and defense services for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

And they want to use $11.3 billion to support “ongoing US military operations in the region.”

In addition, the bill provides for the transfer of ATACMS operational-tactical missiles to Kyiv.

But all this will become possible only after the document is adopted.

Strategy

Special attention is drawn to the following: after the adoption of the bill, the State Department and the Pentagon will have to present the US strategy regarding support for Ukraine within 45 days.

Congressmen see it as long-lasting, at least for several years.

At the same time, it should designate only “specific and achievable goals that identify and prioritize the interests of US national security.”

Biden’s role

The following point is stipulated: within 60 days from the date the law comes into force, Joe Biden must come to an agreement with Kiev on compensation for the economic assistance they provided.

Here, the authors of the draft law also propose to oblige the return of funds provided under the articles of the bills “Economic Support Fund” and “Assistance to Europe, Eurasia and Central Asia.”

At the same time, the US President is given the right to write off up to 50% of Ukraine’s debts, but not earlier than November 15 of this year.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Ukraine would not be given the full amount of Russian assets.
