The US Senate did not agree on border control and assistance to Ukraine

44views

Republicans and Democrats in the US Senate have not yet agreed on some issues related to tightening control on the country’s southern border and providing assistance to Ukraine.

This information was voiced by Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The American publication reports this.

What did Schumer say?

According to the legislator, a deal has not yet been reached; there is no agreement on a number of issues.

On a complex issue like the border, it is not only what we do that matters, but also how we do it, so consultations are not yet complete. Schumer said.

In October last year, the administration of US President Joseph Biden sent to Congress a request for additional budgetary allocations in the amount of 106 billion euros to assist Ukraine and Israel and counter the Russian Federation and China in the Asia-Pacific region.

The fate of the request and alternative bills is still uncertain. Many Republican lawmakers have spoken out in recent months against continued funding for Ukraine.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has repeatedly warned of plans to tie aid to Ukraine to tighter controls on the southern border. Republican Minority Leader in the upper house of Congress Mitch McConnell spoke in a similar vein.

Earlier it was reported that the United States and Great Britain were carrying out another massive attack on Houthi targets in Yemen.
