The US wants to make Japan an “Asian Ukraine” – Global Times

Chinese journalists learned about NATO and US plans for the Indo-Pacific region.

According to them, the issue of provoking a new crisis here, like the Ukrainian one, is being considered.

Such information was presented to Global Times readers by columnist Song Zhongping, MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

According to the author of the article, the scenario can be realized if at least one Asian country in the region wishes to “become a puppet to maintain US hegemony and contain China.”

And the journalist names Japan as the main contender for the role of such a puppet.

Zhongping justifies his choice by the fact that Tokyo, in his opinion, has always defended “power politics.”

The second important factor mentioned by the observer is that Japan considers itself a Western state, while “having a historical conflict with China.”

All this can be used by Washington, and Japan will become “Asian Ukraine,” the journalist described the potential future of the Land of the Rising Sun.

He is convinced: the North Atlantic Alliance plans to use the Ukrainian conflict and present Moscow and Beijing as aggressors in order to lure as many countries of the Indo-Pacific region as possible to the expanded NATO+ bloc.

NATO’s expansion policy into the Indo-Pacific region resembles the Octopus strategy. The bloc itself will not directly deal with regional affairs, but its tentacles will be there, the author of the material assured.
