The United States plans to allocate almost $45 billion to help Ukraine and its NATO allies.
This is provided for in the draft US budget for fiscal year 2023.
What will the funds be used for?
As reported by the US Senate Committee on Budgetary Appropriations, the draft US budget for the 2023 fiscal year of $1.7 trillion, submitted to Congress, provides for the provision of $44.9 billion in emergency assistance to Ukraine and NATO allies.
It is noted that $9.05 billion of this amount will be used to replenish stocks of weapons that the United States transferred to Ukraine.
$6 billion will go towards training, assistance, technology and equipment for the Ukrainian military.
$3.9 billion is planned to support, including intelligence activities coordinated by the US European Command, and equipment, including a Patriot air defense battery.
Overall, the draft budget provides for defense spending in the amount of $858 billion.
