They decided to promote John Kirby, known as the coordinator for strategic communications at the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House.

He will be given the position of Assistant to the President of the United States.

TASS reported this with reference to the Associated Press agency, which in turn refers to its own sources in the White House.

The latter said that Kirby would be appointed adviser to the administration of the head of state on communications in the field of national security.

He will have at his disposal a whole staff of subordinate employees involved in the exchange of data between different departments of the country.

It is emphasized that these specialists, led by Kirby, will act independently of the National Security Council.

Kirby will be promoted from Deputy Assistant to Assistant to the President of the United States.

However, the AP publication notes, despite the new position, Kirby will still speak at briefings for journalists at the White House.
