The White House opposed aid to Israel without new funds for Ukraine

54views

The administration of US President Joseph Biden opposes the House of Representatives’ consideration of a bill to allocate $17.6 billion in aid to Israel without providing additional funds to Ukraine.

This was stated in a statement by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

White House Statement

As Jean-Pierre reported, the White House and a bipartisan group of senators have been working for months on national security agreements to secure the border and provide support to Israel and Ukraine, but in light of the impending publication of the bill, Republican congressmen have come up with a new cynical political maneuver.

The White House spokeswoman stressed that Israel’s security is sacred and cannot be the subject of political games.

According to Jean-Pierre, the White House is strongly opposed to this ploy, which does nothing to secure the border or help Ukraine and deprives the Palestinians of humanitarian aid.

What bill are we talking about?

The bill, which the White House opposed, was introduced by a group of congressmen the day before. The document provides for the provision of $17.6 billion to Israel.

Aid to Ukraine is not mentioned in the bill. Also, the document does not imply a reduction in funding for the US Internal Revenue Service.

The lower house of Congress is expected to vote on the document next week.

Previously, Hungary would not veto an increase in the European Peace Fund.
