An envelope addressed to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez with a suspected pyrotechnic device inside was discovered and seized by his security officials.

He writes about this with reference to the press service of the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The suspicious envelope was discovered on November 24 while sorting incoming correspondence.

“A letter similar to the one that exploded at the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid was sent to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and was intercepted by security officials,” the official press release says.

Reportedly, the letter with dangerous contents was sent to the prime minister by regular mail.

In addition, it is reported that similar messages were sent to the country’s Ministry of Defense, the weapons company Instalaza, as well as to an air base located in the Spanish city of Torrejon de Ardoz.

On Wednesday at around 13:00 local time, an explosion occurred at the Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid after a representative of the diplomatic service opened a letter sent to the ambassador.

As a result of the detonation, the victim suffered a hand injury, but this did not prevent him from independently seeking help from law enforcement agencies.
