To allies, Lula warns that he will not make public charges against Galípolo in BC | Blogs

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has already indicated to interlocutors that he should not make public demands on economist Gabriel Galípolo, his nominee to take over the Central Bank in January 2025, in order to pressure the monetary authority to lower the Selic rate.

In other words, he does not intend to repeat the strategy of personified criticism as he has done since assuming the Presidency of the Republic, against the current president of the BC, Roberto Campos Neto.

Although it does not agree, the government already expects interest rates in Brazil to enter a cycle of successive increases to keep inflation within the target. Even so, criticism of BC members must be limited to the PT.

PT president, Gleisi Hoffmann, said in an interview with CNN Behind the Scenes this Wednesday (18) that will defend the fall of the Selic regardless of who the head of the BC is.
