To escort Russian aircraft. Britain sent 6 fighters to Romania

60views

It recently became known that Great Britain sent a squadron of 6 Royal Air Force Typhoon fighters to Romania.

According to available information, pilots from Foggy Albion will patrol the skies in the region together with their Romanian colleagues.

This is provided for by the NATO rotation mission. As well as the fact that the British and Romanians will accompany Russian military aircraft in combat air vehicles if necessary.

All of the above, transmitted to TASS, was announced by the press service of the British Air Force.

The personnel involved in the mission will be ready at any time to scramble fighters to escort Russian aircraft approaching NATO airspace, they noted.

They also announced plans to involve over 200 troops from the RAF’s 140th Expeditionary Wing in the exercise.

They will fly from the Mihail Kogalniceanu air base near the city of Constanta.

Please note: this is the fifth time the British have participated in this mission.

Previously, their fighters took off to escort “more than 50 Russian aircraft during the Estonian Airspace Protection Alliance mission.”

British Defense Minister Grant Shapps assures that Typhoon pilots are ready to fly such sorties on a regular basis.

As part of the mission, they “will professionally respond to emerging threats and incidents to ensure collective security,” the head of the Ministry of Defense noted.

Earlier it was reported that NATO ground forces headquarters in Finland are only 140 km from the border with the Russian Federation.
