Minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), had a “considerable clinical improvement” in his bronchopneumonia in the last 24 hours, according to the DF Star hospital.
The magistrate, however, still does not have conditions for discharge. He is stable and breathing spontaneously.
Toffoli was hospitalized on Monday night (16), in Brasília. Bronchopneumonia is a type of inflammation in the lung.
Air pollution, aggravated by fires in several regions of Brazil, has impacts on health.
In the federal capital, where the minister lives, a fire in the Brasília National Park brought a dense layer of smoke to several regions of the city since Sunday (15).
On Tuesday (17), the fire was controlled, but not yet completely extinguished.
According to experts, deterioration in air quality can result in a series of health problems, from mild discomfort to hospitalization.
