Tokayev called floods in Kazakhstan the largest natural disaster in the country over the past 80 years

Massive floods began in Kazakhstan last month.

The politician addressed the people of Kazakhstan and stated that there had not been a natural disaster comparable in scale in the republic for a long time.

According to the Kazakh government leader, the floods were perhaps the country’s worst natural disaster in more than 80 years.

Tokayev emphasized: a state of emergency was introduced in 10 regions of the republic at once.

The President of Kazakhstan added: the highest executive body of the country is doing everything possible to reduce the consequences of the natural disaster.

Thus, it was decided to create a republican headquarters. It was headed by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

Tokayev also said that representatives of the Kazakh government are visiting regions whose residents faced the most serious consequences of massive floods.

Earlier, several hundred houses went under water in the Russian city of Orsk after a dam broke.
