President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced his intention to hold early presidential elections.

According to him, the main political event in the life of the country could take place this fall.

He explained his idea by actions in the name of the interests of the republic, which for him are “above all.”

Therefore, I am ready to shorten my term of office and go to early presidential elections, – Kazakh leader of the Rossiya Segodnya MIA.

It is noted that Tokayev made such a statement during his address to the people of Kazakhstan at a joint meeting of the parliamentary chambers.

The head of state also initiated limiting the presidential term to one seven-year period.

Currently, according to the legislation of this country, one person can be elected to the post of president for two five-year terms.

Tokayev justified his proposals by the fact that they would contribute to a significant reduction in the “risks of monopolization of power.”

It was for this reason that he proposed introducing a “one-time presidency” rule in the country.

We must establish civilized principles of the formation and functioning of power. The new presidential system will strengthen political stability and the stability of the Kazakh model of social order,” Tokayev said.

He also took the initiative to hold early parliamentary elections next year.
