Tokyo Olympics: opening ceremony will go on as planned

17views

The opening ceremony of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo will take place today. The competition will start at the National Stadium of the Japanese capital.

However, just yesterday the management of the organizing committee assessed the risk of canceling the opening ceremony, but it seems that this issue existed only in the media.

But, as they say: that’s not all. The day before it became known that the organizing committee fired the main organizer of today’s ceremony.

The reason was his participation in 1998 in a forgotten comedy duet, whose hero suggested “playing the Holocaust.”

Internet users and the Simon Wiesenthal Center demanded the dismissal of the manager.

The main composer of the opening ceremony of the Games was also fired for an old interview in which he admitted that he mocked classmates with disabilities.

All this required adjustments to the official event script.

Meanwhile, the population of the Land of the Rising Sun itself is also overwhelmingly against holding a mass sports festival, even despite the fact that neither foreign nor local spectators will be allowed to attend the spectacle.

The guest of honor of the Olympics, the head of Toyota Corporation, refused to attend the opening ceremony, all because of the unpopularity of the sports festival among the country’s population amid the pandemic.

And yet, the organizers assure that the Games will open and the ceremony will take place as planned.

Belarusian spectators will be able to watch the spectacle on TV at 14:00 (Belarusian time).

The Republic of Belarus will be represented by 108 athletes. They will compete in 20 sports.
