Tourist paralyzed after eating cheese sandwich in Turkey

13views

An unpleasant incident occurred with a tourist from Scotland in Turkey. A 71-year-old man was left paralyzed from the neck down after eating a cheese sandwich for lunch.

The pensioner vacationed with his wife in Turkey in September last year. After one of the dinners, he and his friend were poisoned.

At the end of the holiday, the tourist returned to Scotland, but his health continued to deteriorate.

A week later, he felt “tingling” in his fingers and toes.

Then the pensioner’s vision began to deteriorate, he gradually lost the ability to move independently, and then he was unable to dress or eat on his own.

After being admitted to an Edinburgh hospital, doctors diagnosed Guillain-Barré syndrome.

The couple blames it all on the cheese they bought in a Turkish store.

The Scot took the tests philosophically. The man is sure that if he had chosen a different piece of cheese, everything would have been different.

And yet he believes that he must accept the challenge that fate has thrown at him.

Guillain-Barré syndrome occurs as a result of infection, including food poisoning.

Treatment can take up to 1.5 years. After medical intervention, the tourist is recovering and is able to sit independently in a wheelchair. Doctors predict final recovery within several months.
