The NATO summit is taking place in Madrid. The event started on Tuesday, June 28.

And already on the first day, an event occurred that, as some media write, “shocked” Western officials.

The fact is that a completely unexpected “participant” of the forum suddenly appeared at the summit – Russian salad.

It was noticed by high-ranking ladies and gentlemen, as well as journalists, on the menu of a restaurant serving the Madrid summit of the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to MIA Rossiya Segodnya, citing Reuters, the dish was offered under the name “Russian Potato Salad.”

It was impossible not to notice the salad, since, according to the summit participants, it was placed at the top of the menu. Cost – 8 euros per serving.

As for the composition, the salad was presented with the following ingredients: potatoes, peas, carrots and mayonnaise.

Russian salad at the NATO summit? “I’m a little surprised by this choice of dish,” journalist Iñaki Lopez shared his impression.

The Reuters material says: the Russian salad caused bewilderment among those present, because the summit also discussed the issue of officially recognizing Russia as a threat to NATO.

However, the dish’s high carbohydrate content was more important than its controversial name, and it reportedly sold out within a couple of hours, the article notes.
