Trudeau made a statement on gas supplies to Europe from Canada

0views

Justin Trudeau was forced to admit that Canada is not able to provide assistance and support to European partners with gas supplies.

From the statement of the Western politician it follows that EU politicians and the population will have to solve the difficulties of the coming winter, perhaps on their own.

Justin Trudeau admitted that in the short term Canada will not be able to help Europe with gas supplies.

This means that difficulties caused by gas shortages this winter cannot be avoided.

What Trudeau said

“To be honest, there is not much we can do in the short term to help with the coming winter difficulties,” the Canadian politician was quoted as saying.

Justin Trudeau did not specify what kind of assistance Canada is still able to provide to Europe.

Instead, the head of government said that gas supplies to Europe would be the topic of negotiations with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

It is known that Scholz and Trudeau will meet on August 21.

About sanctions, gas and energy independence

Let us recall that as a result of the refusal of Russian energy resources, only one working turbine remained from the former capacity of Nord Stream 1.

It will be shut down on August 31 for repairs for three days.

As a result, gas prices in Europe rose above $2,700.

As for the fullness of storage facilities, according to experts, even if it is possible to fill these volumes to the desired 90%, then in the coming winter this is unlikely to be a solution to the problem if supplies stop altogether.

Against this background, calls are increasingly heard in EU countries to launch Nord Stream 2.
