Fidan said Turkey’s position is that the parties to the conflict have reached the limits of what can be achieved through military means.

He noted that Turkey cannot come to terms with the fact that about 500,000 people are dying or being injured in the center of Europe in the 21st century.

According to Fidan, Turkey is not talking about recognizing the territories occupied by Russia, but the time has come to separate this issue and the topic of sovereignty from the ceasefire issue.
