Türkiye did not miss British minesweepers donated to Ukraine

40views

The British minesweepers donated to Kyiv were unable to proceed to their destination port.

The reason is the decision of the Turkish authorities, who, citing the Montreux Convention on the rules of navigation in the straits, did not allow the warships donated by Great Britain to Ukraine to pass.

Turkey did not allow British minesweepers to pass through and notified NATO partners that while the conflict in Ukraine was ongoing, warships would not enter the Black Sea, reports.

At the same time, the media report that earlier a message appeared on the Internet that Ankara allowed minesweepers to pass through the Black Sea straits.

This message was later denied by employees of the Center for Combating Disinformation of the Turkish Presidential Administration.

Let us recall that after the start of a military special operation on the territory of Ukraine, Türkiye closed the strait to warships of the countries participating in the conflict.

The decision also extended to non-riparian countries in order to prevent escalation in the Black Sea basin.

It also became known that the message about Sandown-class mine-resistant ships allegedly missed by Turkey caused discontent in Moscow.

Earlier it became known about the forecast for 2024.
