Türkiye has named the conditions for its “yes” to Finland and Sweden joining NATO

39views

Türkiye demanded that Sweden and Finland fulfill a number of conditions for their agreement to join NATO.

One of the main ones is Ankara’s return to the program for the supply of the latest F-35 combat aircraft.

Along with this, Türkiye wants sanctions on the acquisition of Russian S-400 air defense systems to be lifted.

About this MIA “Russia Today” with reference to the agency “Bloomberg”, which in turn refers to its own sources.

Earlier, US State Department spokesman Ned Price notified the public that Türkiye had not made any specific demands regarding the accession of the mentioned countries to NATO.

However, Bloomberg claims that Ankara is asking to be included in the F-35 supply program, from which it was excluded after purchasing the S-400 from Russia.

Moreover, Türkiye wants the US to lift sanctions for its possession of S-400 missiles, the report said.

It is also reported that Ankara wants to purchase dozens of F-16 military aircraft from the United States with kits to modernize those it already has.

Another demand is that Finland and Sweden must lift restrictions on arms exports, which they introduced in 2019 along with some other EU countries.

Türkiye also demands that the Finnish and Swedish authorities publicly condemn the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and related organizations.
