It recently became known that Turkish intelligence services warned their Russian colleagues about a potential second terrorist attack after the attack on the Crocus City Hall cinema near Moscow.
Thanks to this, a new crime of this kind was prevented.
The TASS agency reported this with reference to the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet.
A columnist for this publication, Hande Firat, assures: after the attack on Crocus, the terrorists planned to commit another terrorist attack.
According to him, the attackers planned to attack a “crowded shopping center.”
Turkish intelligence prevented this second major terrorist attack by contacting Moscow, the journalist writes.
According to the information he has, the crime was prepared by militants of the Vilayat Khorasan group banned in Russia,* associated with the terrorist organization Islamic State*, also banned in the Russian Federation.
Firat says his country’s intelligence services have been monitoring the local Vilayat Khorasan cell for a long time, which was involved in the January attack on St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Istanbul.
Employees of the Turkish special services contacted several influential people in this cell and, after interrogating them, contacted their Russian colleagues.
The newspaper recalls: two of those who committed the attack on Crocus were in Turkey shortly before, and Moscow was also notified about this.
Earlier it became known that the FBI is increasingly likely to attack the United States, similar to the terrorist attack at Crocus.
