The German government has confirmed information that Chancellor Olaf Scholz has agreed to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
In particular, the official representative of the Cabinet of Ministers, Steffen Hebestreit, notified the general public about this.
In the first stage, Germany will provide a company of 14 Leopard 2 A6 tanks from Bundeswehr stocks, – official of MIA “Russia Today”.
According to Mr. Hebestreit, in total, Germany intends to transfer two tank battalions to Kyiv.
He added that the German authorities also plan to allow Ukraine to re-export its “leopards” to states that have them and have expressed a desire to provide them to Kyiv.
In addition, the new assistance package is planned to include training of Ukrainian military personnel, maintenance of various systems, transfer of ammunition, etc.
Hebestreit noted that Berlin made the decision to transfer the tanks and grant the right to do so to other countries after active negotiations with international partners.
