The Ukrainian authorities intend to fence themselves off from their Slavic neighbors with a solid wall.
We are talking about the construction of protective engineering structures along the entire length of the border with the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. The leadership of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs shared their plans in this regard.
According to information published on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the head of the department, Denis Monastyrsky, recently inspected a section of the border with Russia in the Lugansk region.
The complex of protective structures impressed the official, after which a statement was made that the authorities would make all necessary efforts to improve the borders with their neighbors – Belarus and Russia.
The structure consists of an anti-vehicle ditch, a rampart, a control strip, a barbed wire fence, and it all is crowned with an intelligent video surveillance system.
The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that such a complex will guarantee protection against military invasion, the penetration of saboteurs, migrants and smuggling.
According to the minister, work to strengthen the borders could begin as early as next year.
By the way, according to calculations provided to the minister, everything will require 17 billion hryvnia (more than 630 million US dollars).
The Ministry of Internal Affairs requests that the costs of large-scale work be taken into account when planning the budget for 2022.
