Ukraine has threatened to block the Druzhba oil pipeline to put pressure on Hungary, which opposes the embargo on Russian oil.
The corresponding statement was made by Advisor to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Elena Zerkal on May 26 at the Kiev Security Forum.

Zerkal stated that Hungary, taking advantage of the situation in Ukraine, is actually blackmailing the European Union, but Ukraine has “excellent leverage” – the Druzhba oil pipeline.
The official recalled that a separate line of this oil pipeline goes to Hungary.

The representative of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine noted that it is in the hands of the government and the head of state – to resolve political issues, to decide whether Ukraine really wants to speak with the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, in the language that he understands and is imposing on the EU.

Let us recall that a number of EU countries, including Hungary, are blocking the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, which provides for an oil embargo.
Earlier, former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called for the blocking of Friendship.
