Ukraine threatens the world’s largest banks with the International Criminal Court

50views

The Ukrainian government demanded that the world’s largest banks (from the USA and Europe) cease business relations with companies trading Russian oil.

Otherwise, Kyiv will file claims with the International Criminal Court.

MIA Rossiya Segodnya reports this with reference to the Financial Times newspaper.

In turn, the American publication refers to a letter from Zelensky’s economic adviser Oleg Ustenko.

The letter is said to be addressed to JPMorgan Chase chief James Dimon and HSBC financial group Noel Queen.

It was also received by Citigroup and Crédit Agricole, reports the Financial Times.

In his message, Ustenko accuses large Western banks of lending to companies involved in the transportation of Russian oil.

The adviser invites the recipients of the letter to sell their shares in Gazprom and Rosneft.

According to him, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine plans to take these banks to the International Criminal Court after the end of hostilities.

Ukrainian security services are collecting information about financial institutions that support Russian energy, said Oleg Ustenko.

According to the American publication, the International Criminal Court cannot conduct investigations against governments or corporations, but it has the power to hold individuals accountable.
