The Ukrainian army does not intend to defend the city of Bakhmut (Russian name – Artemovsk) at any cost and to the last soldier.
This is what the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said.
According to the Ukrainian leader, this settlement is “not particularly large.” And he added: like many other cities in the Donbass.
Zelensky stated this in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera and a number of other publications, the portal “HERE NEWS”.
The head of state notes that it is important for Kyiv to defend Artemovsk, “but not at any cost and so that everyone perishes.”
We will fight as long as it is reasonable. The Russians then want to go further to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, to the borders of Donbass and to the Dnieper, if they can,” he said.
Vladimir Zelensky notified journalists that Ukrainian troops were resisting while preparing “the next counter-offensive.”
He also commented on his French colleague’s statement about his reluctance to see Russia “defeated.”
According to the President of Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron is simply “wasting his time,” because dialogue on a given topic, according to Zelensky, will be “useless.”
