UN Court orders Israel to take measures to prevent genocide in the Gaza Strip

50views

The International Court of Justice of the United Nations (UN) announced an interim decision on the claim of the Republic of South Africa against Israel.

According to a statement by the president of the court, Joan Donoghue, the Israeli side must do everything possible to prevent genocide in the Palestinian territory, located on the Mediterranean coast.

In other words, Tel Aviv must not allow residents of the Gaza Strip to be killed.

In addition, the Israeli side must prevent situations in which people living in the enclave are subjected to serious bodily harm.

And Israel, according to the decision of the UN court, must do everything necessary to prevent the “deliberate creation” of conditions under which the “physical destruction” of the inhabitants of Palestinian territory occurs.

Israel must ensure that its military does not commit any of the actions described above, – MIA quotes Joan Donoghue as saying.

The chairwoman of the UN court also emphasized: the Jewish state should not allow public calls to commit genocide in Palestine, located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. And if there are such calls, Tel Aviv must apply punishment.

However, it is worth emphasizing that the United Nations court did not make a decision obliging Israel to stop the operation in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier it became known that there was a two-month break in hostilities.
