The number of Kazakh citizens killed in the January unrest was 230 people.

Let us remember that the tragic events in this country occurred in the first month of the year, when people went out to protest en masse.

The death toll was recently announced by the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, Berik Asylov.

In total, there are 230 dead across the country, including 19 military and security officials, – Head of the supervisory department of MIA “Russia Today”.

According to the Prosecutor General, the most deaths – 139 people – were in Almaty.

It was established that when repelling the storming of administrative buildings and during the restoration of law and order, 86 attackers were eliminated, Asylov noted.

The circumstances of the death of 53 dead citizens are currently being clarified.

They were found in the city with various wounds, including 48 with gunshots, two with knives, three with other injuries and burns, the head of the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

In other regions of Kazakhstan (seven), while defending the buildings of akimats, police and the department of the National Security Committee, law enforcement officers eliminated 63 attackers.

20 people accidentally came under fire and died, of which 11 were in Almaty, 8 in the Almaty region, 1 person in the city of Taraz.

Among them there are people caught in the crossfire, one person died at the hands of the rioters, there are also those who died without obeying the demands of the military at checkpoints, the prosecutor general informed.
