20views

The funds agreed by the US Congress to help Ukraine have almost run out.

This statement was made by US Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

The funds previously agreed to by Congress are almost gone, and we need action from Congress to make sure we meet Ukraine’s needs. – White House employee of MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

Biden’s request

Earlier, Joe Biden asked Congress to agree on a combined aid package for Israel and Ukraine worth $105 billion.

However, according to media reports, they will not be able to consider it, since at this time they have not yet identified the person who will replace the fired Kevin McCarthy as speaker.

The request was sent to the acting head of the lower house, Patrick McHenry, but he does not have sufficient authority to make such decisions.

Almost shutdown

The press recalls that Biden’s previous request for assistance to Kyiv in the amount of $24 billion almost led to a shutdown.

The fact is that Republicans in Congress did not want to approve a budget with a clause on financing assistance for Ukraine.

As a result, a temporary budget was adopted, which did not include the allocation of funds for Kyiv.

McCarthy’s resignation

At the same time, McCarthy was fired because Republican congressmen suspected that he had made a secret deal with the White House to finance aid for Ukraine.

Now, writes the Russian news agency, Washington does not have new funds for Kyiv, and those previously agreed upon will only last for a short time.

American media report that their country’s military, economic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine has exceeded $100 billion.
